Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or body work session will take place in the comfort of your home.
Must I be completely undressed?
No, you should undress to your level of comfort.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
Based on your medical condition you and your therapist will discuss in detail what areas of your body can be treated. At all time we will take into consideration massage indications and contraindications.
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
When caring for and treating the medically frail, you can expect the trained hands of your therapist to massage you gently and compassionately. Our therapist will focus on your skin integrity; we will create warmth that will cause your body to relax. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil or lotion also helps hydrate your skin. When performing Manual Lymphatic Drainage, no products are used. It is so important to communicate immediately with you therapist should you feel any discomfort, so that another approach may be taken.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodyworks?
The are numerous typed of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movements, posture and movement re-educating, application of pressure to specific points. Manual Lymphatic Drainage also includes light, gently pumping action on the skin / body. We can discuss which method may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
It is most important that you relax. When possible do deep breathing and enjoy the experience.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Our therapists are trained to cater to your needs. It is our hope that you will feel calm, rested, and peaceful, during and after your session.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
